This song was written after a period of people not respect my gender identity and being called bro and man at shows we'd play in spite of my presentation. I wrote this out of shear frustration during my time in Seattle. I waited a while before bringing in something so personal to the band since it was my message and not OUR message. I still feel this way sometimes but I'm a lot less effected by other people's reactions than I used to be back the- by a lot actually.
lyrics
There hardly seems a point but i need to
talk about what i've been going through
it always seems to show when i don't try
seems i'm running out of places to hide
so why try
it takes courage i don't have just to be myself
i'm sweaty in these wigs, my arms don't help
so why can't i have a body that feels like mine?
so i'll keep on trying
feels like lying
being present
touching lives
